This course is an opportunity to explore the four foundations of mindfulness from the lens of the feminine. We will explore the teachings of mindfulness and the body, feeling tones, mind/emotion states, and the Dhammas with an inquiry into the female experience in each of these teachings. Topics we will explore are a deeper understanding of within the foundations are: hormonal/chemical changes, reproduction, gender roles/identity (stereotypes, motherhood, keeping house), the seen/expected ways to “behave”, sexuality (over, under expressed, safety), and the cultural/societal expectations of being a “woman”. We will learn through these teachings and practices to open and expand into a more grounded, self-compassionate, fuller sense of embodiment as a woman, as the feminine (in your own definition).
We will infuse the understanding and teaching of the four foundations of mindfulness with the support of Mother Earth. Seeing, sensing, feeling her wisdom to support guiding us into a deeper understanding of the feminine and the ways these teachings can help us to open to a greater sense of the truth of our expression of the feminine and our interconnectedness. We need now more than ever to bring forth the beautiful expressions of the feminine to support the Earth’s healing. Learning how to awaken the feminine within and in relationship to Mother Earth can be a beautiful expression of learning to bring balance, health and healing into our times to support the healing of our Earth.
The course will include periods of meditation practice, group discussion, Q/A, inquiry, reflection, music/movement, and creative connections through art and symbolism to cycles of nature. All female-identified (womxn), male, non-binary are welcome.
